Automation needs change and grow with increased load, capacity, and demands for more reliable service. S&C's Scada-Mate CX™ Switches can meet these changing needs...economically. They're three-pole, group-operated interrupter switches specifically designed for automating overhead distribution systems. Scada-Mate CX Switches are rated 630 amperes continuous and interrupting and are offered in voltage ratings of 14.4 kV and 25 kV. They feature a five-time duty-cycle fault-closing rating of 20,000 amperes RMS asymmetrical.

Circuit making and circuit breaking are accomplished within sealed interrupters, in a controlled sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) environment. Interrupter position is clearly visible on the open/closed indicator on the side of the switch. Scada-Mate CX Switches are factory-assembled on a one-piece base and include an integral stored-energy operating mechanism. In addition to electrically operating the interrupters, the operating mechanism provides non-electrical mechanical opening and closing of the interrupters by means of a manual-operation pull ring. The switch can be locked open to prevent electrical or manual closing. Scada-Mate CX Switches are available in upright, upright with extra mounting-pole clearance, and upright compact (alley arm) models. All feature S&C Cypoxy® Insulators.

Expandable to meet your DA needs. With Scada-Mate CX Switches you only need to purchase the features required today...you can easily upgrade tomorrow. Switches can be furnished with factory-installed three-phase S&C Current Sensors. Or three-phase S&C Current/Voltage Sensors on one or both sides of the switch. Alternately, S&C sensors or sensors of other manufacture can be added later.

Simple installation. Scada-Mate CX Switches are easy to install. Permanent lifting means are provided for convenient rigging and hoisting. With their integral sensors and disconnect and no vertical operating pipe, Scada-Mate CX Switches present a clean uncluttered look.

Wide range of controls matching your automation objectives. S&C Automatic Switch Controls combine sophisticated automatic control schemes with RTU functions, data logging, and advanced communications — and are available with the unique IntelliTEAM II® Automatic Restoration System. Communication and Control Units are custom-engineered packages that work with almost any user-specified remote terminal units and communication devices to meet your unique automation requirements.

Optional Features
Visible-break disconnect. If your system practices require it, Scada-Mate CX Switches can be furnished with an integral disconnect. It's comprised of three single-phase hookstick-operated blades based on S&C's proven Loadbuster Disconnect® design. The disconnect is interlocked to prevent opening when the interrupters are closed, and closing the interrupters when the disconnect is open.

Wildlife Protection. Birds and tree squirrels are a leading cause of short-term unexplained outages on distribution systems. Minimize the impact of wildlife on your distribution system by installing wildlife protection for the Scada-Mate CX.
