Pipework Dampers

Vibrations in pipework systems may lead to excessive deflections and stress
Vibrations in pipework systems may lead to excessive deflections and stress. The sources are manifold and can only be completely suppressed in a few cases. Vibrations may be excited from the operation of the system itself, for example from pressure pulses when opening or closing valves, but vibrations may also be transmitted from the outside through the structure to the piping. All this may result in material fatigue and stress fractures.

To protect such systems, GERB has developed special pipework dampers based on the VISCODAMPERS which have been used for decades in vibration control of machinery. For applications where the ambient temperature or the temperature inside the VISCODAMPER varies, for example in outdoor installations, or where system operation leads to high temperature variation, GERB has developed the new pipework damper series RRD..TU providing damping properties insensitive to temperature changes.
