New Volumetric or Gravimetric Vibratory Tray Mini-Feeder Announced

The type KDA-VV/45 feeder was developed to answer the need to feed color concentrate micropellets at very low feed rates: 0.25 to 25 lbs/hr.

The basic construction element of this feeder is the Arbo resonant vibratory drive. The tray and the material in the tray vibrate at the resonant (natural) frequency of the assembly. Different feed rates are obtained by varying the vibration amplitude. The amplitude is constantly monitored in a closed loop circuit by the amplitude sensor.

This arrangement is said to allow for a linear feed characteristic and a turn-down ratio between maximum and minimum feed rates of over 100:1.

Additionally, the feeder is constructed of aluminum, making it extremely light (23 lbs,). This permits the scale to be provided with a small capacity load cell, allowing for excellent signal ratios. The results reportedly obtained with this feeder demonstrate accuracies of better than ±1.25% for rates of 0.5 lbs/hr, at 30 second sampling interval.
