Motor and Generator Coolers
The unique leak detector configuration is a popular option for these installations. The leak detector system is designed to prevent catastrophic failure of the motor or generator should water leak into the cooling air which dissipates heat by sensing moisture before it can leak into the air.
The system consists of two bonded concentric tubes, each joined to a separate tubesheet. The outer tube is expanded into the airside tubesheet. The inner tube, or liner, is inserted in the outer tube and draw expanded through its full length to form a tight bond between the inner and outer tubes. The end of the inner tube is then roller expanded into the waterside tubesheet to form the leak detector chamber.
The double tube construction provides double protection against possible leaks due to corrosion as well as tube barriers separating the tube side fluid and the air side.
