Liqui-Cel® Industrial Membrane Contactors Are Now More Economical For Removal of CO2 and O2 From Liquids

Liqui-CelĀ® Industrial Membrane Contactors Are Now More Economical For Removal of CO2 and O2 From Liquids Charlotte, NC. USA. January 17, 2003 - Membrana-Charlotte increases capacity of its Industrial Grade 10 x 28 Membrane Contactors to lower overall costs of carbon dioxide and oxygen removal from liquids.

The Industrial 10 x 28 Liqui-Cel Membrane Contactor was introduced in 2002. Since then additional application testing has been completed that allows Membrana-Charlotte to increase the flow capacity of these contactors. This is a benefit because one contactor can now process 210 gpm in one unit instead of 175 gpm. Higher flow capacity means that fewer contactors are now needed to treat the same water stream. This further lowers both the capital and operating costs of the membrane system. Fewer contactors are required and a smaller blower and vacuum pump is also needed. The GasCAD™ Sizing Program has been updated so that systems can be accurately sized with the larger capacity.

Carbon dioxide negatively impacts the performance of Ion Exchange and EDI technology used in a variety of water treatment plants and industrial process water streams. Liqui-Cel Contactors offer a modular solution to remove carbon dioxide before these processes without chemicals. The contactors are also commonly used for removing excess oxygen. Oxygen negatively impacts many process waters and it can oxidize many materials.

Liqui-Cel Membrane Contactor systems are modular and require very little space. They also do not require chemicals for operation, which has a positive impact on the environment and provides a safer work environment for system operators.

Liqui-Cel Membrane Contactors are presently used across the globe for adding or removing O2, CO2 and N2 to or from water. They are used extensively in the Semiconductor, Power, Pharmaceutical, Photographic, Food and Beverage, and many other general industries. Membrana-Charlotte also offers liquid ring vacuum pumps, eductors and resistivity controlling equipment to complement the membrane contactors Membrana's Industrial Membrane Group also manufactures a variety of membranes used for filtration in various industries and applications. There are ten strategically located manufacturing facilities in the USA, Europe and Asia and global markets are served through sales offices in North and South America, Europe, Japan, Australia, South East Asia and China.
