AEP Meets Stringent Effluent Limits With Solution From Degremont

At the Clinch River Plant in Cleveland, VA, combined wastewater streams from ash tank overflow, boiler room sumps, cooling tower blowdown, seal and cooling water, and various plant drains exceeded current discharge limits for copper. The owner, American Electric Power Service Corp., anticipated new NPDES permit limits to be further reduced to 9.3-ppb of copper, and TSS reduction was also required.
