Application Note: Power Distribution Center City Of Adana, Turkey
By Schneider Electric, Telemetry & Remote SCADA Solutions
Situated in the middle of the Cukurova Plain, the most fertile agricultural area of the country, and fed by the waters of the River Seyhan, the city of Adana is the fifth largest city in Turkey. As one of the largest and most dynamic cities in Turkey, it has many industrial zones making it mandatory to remotely monitor and control its power distribution. TEDAS is the government organization responsible for operating the power distribution system in Adana and four other cities in the region. Recently TEDAS realized that a SCADA system was required to manage the distribution network.
Up to this point the prosperous city's expansion had brought increases in its power requirements making it very difficult to manage the power network. During rainy periods when multiple failures occur from different locations around the city, an already limited staff had to travel to each location to put faulted regions back online. By implementing a SCADA system TEDAS aimed to decrease these downtimes to a minimum and also save on manpower and vehicle costs.
