Department Of Defense Ready To Generate Clean Energy From Landfill Methane Using FlexEnergy Technology

Installation of Flex Powerstation™ at Fort Benning complete as DoD works toward energy independence and sustainability goals

Irvine, CA /PRNewswire/ - FlexEnergy Inc (www.flexenergy.com), a clean tech company with a breakthrough solution that generates clean energy from methane with near-zero emissions, has successfully installed its first commercial order of the Flex Powerstation™ FP250 at the Department of Defense's (DoD) Fort Benning, GA Army base. The Flex Powerstation™ will convert landfill gas into enough renewable electricity to power the equivalent of 250 homes, reducing both the Army's carbon footprint and bottom line.

"FlexEnergy is proud to be serving future generations by providing energy for our nation's security operations, while protecting the nation's environmental air quality," said FlexEnergy Inc CEO Joe Perry. "Instead of venting or flaring waste gases from landfills, our Flex Powerstation enables customers to turn those methane gases into energy and solve environmental problems associated with methane at the same time."

FlexEnergy Inc's breakthrough technology was selected for Fort Benning by Southern Research Institute under a demonstration program funded by the DoD Environmental Security Technology Certification Program, which seeks innovative and cost-effective technologies to address its high-priority environmental and energy requirements. The Flex Powerstation finished the initial operations tests on August 19, producing up to 230 kW net of renewable energy. In a matter of a few weeks, the system will be generating renewable electricity continuously for the army base.
