ABB Awarded $20 Million System Upgrade Order by Omaha Public Power District

ABB announced that it has been awarded a major contract by Omaha Public Power District for a full scope instrumentation and control system, to be installed for four units at the District's North Omaha Power Station. The value of the order is $20,850,000.
Omaha Public Power District serves 280,000 customers in thirteen southeast Nebraska counties. The full-scope, turnkey instrumentation and control systems project will replace the power plant's current pneumatic control system, which has been in service for approximately 40 years. The scope of the project includes the installation of a fully functional open control system, simulator, plant historian, relay protection, burner front instrumentation and field instrumentation. ABB is also responsible for the removal of the existing pneumatic control system.
The goals of the Omaha Public Power District are: increased reliability, improve unit response, and lower O&M (operation and maintenance) costs.
